The Executive Leader of Huntingdonshire District Council, Cllr Robin Howe, invites Huntingdonshire-based businesses and voluntary sector organisations to come along to a breakfast briefing and discussion on the devolution proposals.

Huntingdonshire district councillors voted to let local communities have their say on proposals which would see powers and finance devolved from central government to an elected Mayor and combined authority across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, to allow decisions to be made more locally.

A public consultation has now been launched on proposals that could impact on residents and businesses and this meeting is part of that process. There is also an online survey that consists of 10 questions and a telephone survey will be carried out by Ipsos MORI with residents across the district.

Cllr Robin Howe said: "This event forms part of the council’s consultation and engagement exercise in support of the devolution proposals. I would encourage local businesses and voluntary sector organisations to attend to ensure that they are fully informed on the challenges and opportunities that devolution could bring."

The briefing is taking place on Tuesday 16 August from 8am – 10am. It will be held at the Civic Suite at Pathfinder House, St Mary’s Street, Huntingdon. It is hoped that the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnership will be present. Please register your place at the event.
