Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) is passionate about providing high-quality services to our communities, residents and businesses. This means we must employ and retain the most talented and dedicated people.

Situated within the heart of the Cambridge-Peterborough Growth Area, Huntingdonshire is a beautiful district that boasts thriving market towns and many attractive villages, each with its own identity. We are an innovative and forward-thinking local authority whose residents are at the heart of our decision-making.

At HDC we want to employ staff who embody our icare values (Inspiring, Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Enterprising), all of which support our ultimate purpose of putting our customers first.

Job details

If you are a curious, creative and friendly team player keen to pursue a career in local government we would love to hear from you.

Our Executive Support team is looking for a Personal Assistant, to report to the Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive and working closely with the senior leadership of the council to support them in delivering the best outcomes for our residents in line with our Corporate Plan.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to all our services and get involved with various projects, events and activities, where your input as part of a close working and supportive team will be welcomed and valued.

You will work with the Executive Assistant to the CEO and the Corporate Directors on a day-to-day basis, supporting them with meeting organisation, various admin tasks and helping to keep the CEO and wider senior leadership offices running smoothly.

You will have your own areas of ownership and be trusted to make independent decisions but with a team member always available to bounce ideas off.

Aside from ‘business as usual’ tasks, there will be plenty of opportunities to get creative and support internal and external events and communication activity and the senior team will be biting your hand off for help in various projects or wherever you can add value! This will provide amazing opportunities for networking and relationship building within the Council as well as exposure to some of our key external partners.

As well as being literate and numerate you are a great communicator and competent using the usual MS Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), but much more importantly, you are always keen to learn new skills and broaden your experience. Your solid admin skills will be put to good use as well as your attention to detail and organisational flair.

If you love to get involved and are comfortable working as part of a team but also under your own initiative, this is the role for you!

This is a hybrid role and will involve working onsite in our offices circa 2-3 days a week (the specific days of the week will vary depending on diary commitments) and remotely the remainder of the week with a large degree of flexibility required.

Candidates should therefore be within commutable distance of our offices in Huntingdon and able to flex at short notice to meet business needs.
