Paxton Pits Nature Reserve covers 77 hectares of lakes, meadow, grassland, scrub and woodland where you can enjoy a wealth of wildlife all year round. The reserve is famous for its nightingales and cormorants and is home to a wide variety of other birds, insects, mammals and flora. Whether you are painting the scenery with watercolours, bird watching or going for a walk, we hope you enjoy your visit.

The reserve is open to visitors at all times. The Visitor Centre is open from approximately 10am to 4.30pm every day (except Christmas Day), subject to volunteer availability.

The reserve is also home to the local Wildlife Trust's Environmental Education Centre. The Friends of Paxton Pits support the reserve by organising events and activities to raise funds to improve the reserve for people and wildlife.
