Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) has launched an Online Climate Hub as result of feedback from local people.

The 2023 Climate Conversation events invited local businesses, residents, parish councils and environmental groups to gather and discuss Climate Change and Huntingdonshire’s environment. Feedback from these sessions showed a clear wish for a platform where this collaboration could continue, leading to the Online Climate Hub.

The hub is split into 12 sections showing what HDC is doing to tackle climate change, resources for local authorities, information on biodiversity, funding opportunities and much more.

The Online Climate Hub supports the goals of the council’s Climate Strategy and Climate Action Plan. The hub serves as a platform that will encourage and enable our communities to tackle climate change, in turn helping us to achieve our ambition of becoming carbon net zero by 2040.

Cllr Lara Davenport-Ray, HDC’s cabinet member for climate and environment said: "Local people tell me that they want to take climate action and prepare for our changing environment. During our events last year, I heard a consistent message. Huntingdonshire residents want to continue collaborating both with councils and with other residents. Our Online Climate Hub is where that conversation can continue."

The platform was piloted with town and parish councils prior to the official launch, and the feedback was positive.

  • "Thank you for the preview of the Online Climate Hub. We think this is an excellent idea and something which should prove very useful when we are looking for resources and ideas as to how to help to reduce our local carbon footprint and improve biodiversity"

  • "Congratulations on the new Online Climate Hub for Huntingdonshire – a useful resource!"

  • "This is brilliant! So much helpful information and I actually found a recipe I wanted to try by using the link!"
