Council & Democracy

The Huntingdonshire Futures grant scheme is intended to support groups to deliver events, activities or projects that support one or more of the five journeys of Huntingdonshire Futures. It has been launched because this year Huntingdonshire District Council is celebrating a number of milestones, including its 50th anniversary of being created (1 April) and 40th anniversary of being named as Huntingdonshire District Council (1 October).

Our Huntingdonshire Futures place strategy is continuing to develop, and this fund will allow the community to get involved in activity that supports it. Applications must support at least one of the five journeys and may support multiple.

Applications must be for projects that are based in Huntingdonshire, and where the majority of beneficiaries are Huntingdonshire residents.

You can apply for grants of £500 up to £2,500. The final award will be at the discretion of the panel.

The scheme will close when the fund has been fully allocated, or at the end of 2024, whichever is sooner.

Huntingdonshire Futures is Huntingdonshire District Council’s place strategy for the next 30 years, aiming to make Hunts better place to work, live and visit. It was developed over the course of extensive consultation and engagement during 2022, and formally adopted by the Council in early 2023.

Ensure you fully read the eligibility criteria. We also suggest reviewing the application form so you have time to develop your answers.

Your application must clearly link to one or more of the five journeys, be based in Huntingdonshire and the majority of beneficiaries should be Huntingdonshire residents.

Please note these are examples to encourage thought around the journeys and what activity linked to them might look like. We encourage you to think broadly and welcome a variety of ideas beyond the examples given here. Using these examples does not guarantee success, we will still be looking for a fully formed application meeting the eligibility criteria. Some of the above examples may need specific permissions or have specific requirements. It remains the responsibility and liability of the applicant to ensure compliance of any activity or project funded in whole or part with any legal and/or statutory requirements which may be required.

Active Lifestyles offer a range of sporting and physical activity opportunities to help improve the health and wellbeing of our residents.

If your group/organisation needs support to keep your community active and social, then take a look at what we offer and find out more about how we can support you.

The grant is open to organisations and community groups. It is not available to private individuals or commercial organisations. Organisations must have a dedicated bank account.

Please see the Community Chest eligibility criteria [PDF, 0.2MB] for more information about the scheme.

Ensure you review these before deciding which scheme would be best to apply for, or contact place@huntingdonshire.gov.uk.

You cannot apply for both the Huntingdonshire Futures grant scheme and the Community Chest grant scheme in 2024/2025 for the same project, event, activity or purpose.

Please ensure you have read these FAQs and the eligibility criteria.
